Our bodies are truly amazing to say the least! One aspect of many, is the inner workings that goes on behind the scenes from the first bite of food, right through the entire digestive process, ultimately allowing each and every one of us life on a daily basis rival even the most intelligent minds.

The key player, our cells are comprised from the food that we eat, as such a good or a bad diet dictates whether or not we have balanced or unbalanced cells. In fact, foods that are absorbed during digestion and carried into the bloodstream are called bioavailable foods. If they are good for us they are called bioactive foods. If they neither improve our health nor detract from it they are called bio-neutral foods and if the foods we eat are toxic for us they are called biocidic foods. This according to a recent article written by Brazo Minshew Chief Science Officer for TriVita.

So you ask, "what are Betalains anyway?" Betalains are bioflavonoids, a plant compound known for their antioxidant activity. Betalains are void in fruits and vegetables, but all 24 known Betalains are found in rich abundance in the Nopal Cactus Fruit better known as the "Prickly Pear Cactus".

So how does the Betalain family fit into this whole body thing? Further information from this same articles goes on to say, research showed that anti-inflammatory Betalains protected fats from being oxidized and turned into “bad” fats. Methyl linoleate (ML) is a common fat used in manufacturing detergent and other products. It can become carcinogenic (cancer-causing) if it oxidizes. Betalains protected ML from oxidizing. This antioxidant activity hindered the formation of inflammatory chemicals. Betalains slowed down the domino effect of toxic, rancid fats from becoming carcinogenic before they ever started!

All of this of course begs the question, can our body take in the goodness and reap the benefits of these wonderful potent anti-inflammatory, anti-toxin action of the Betalain family? According to Professors at the University of Palermo, Italy. Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology involved in the study of Betalains, and their activity stated that Betalains are both bioavailable and bioactive!

We can improve the health of our cells, along with helping our bodies reduce inflammation, oxidation and the impact of toxins by taking in the Betalain family!

Inflammation can be your very best friend in an emergency, it’s your bodies defense against all enemies who’s intent it is to harm. This super hero for all the good that it can do in helping the body to heal, also can harbor a dark side in some cases. Inflammation that causes asthma, allergies, digestive problems, insomnia, autoimmune disorders, just to name a few.

Mankind has been exposed to pollen since day one, but over time increased toxins, emotional distress on a daily basis, nutrient and sleep deficiencies have changed the way our bodies react to pollen, and food allergies. These sources of stress have been shown to release inflammatory histamines in our bodies, and once histamines are released into our system they are extremely inflammatory.

Histamines are released on four different receptors:

The first receptor, better known as H-1 is released in the airways causing allergic rhinitis (hay fever), asthma, itchy watery eyes, scratchy throat, bronchitis. The second H-2 in the digestive system producing symptoms such as acid indigestion, gastric reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, colitis. The third H-3 in the brain, insomnia, anxiety, depression, attention deficit disorder, bipolar disorder, and Alzheimer. The last receptor H-4 in the immune system, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibermyalgia.

Histamines are as stated earlier inflammatory, starting a fire in one or more of these body systems, as a result creating symptoms. The arsonist who started the fire on one or more receptors may be determined by heredity, environment, and/or lifestyle. The weapon of choice used, the match, may be pollen or proteins, toxic poisons, and the list goes on and on. Any one or more could be the ignition ultimately creating the firestorm. The arsonist always has the same method of execution, inflammation is always caused by histamines.

So how can you help put out the fire and protect yourself against histamine formation? It’s time to bring in a powerful team that together help fight the formation of excessive histamines and reduce inflammation. First Vitamin B-12 can block the enzyme THF which is responsible for excess histamine formation. Since histamines create inflammation that feeds on itself in a firestorm of irritation, the nutrient betalain, and the riches source found in the Nopal cactus fruit breaks the cycle of inflammation putting out the firestorm.

Try to stay away from allergens, while your immune system renews itself, and take in this effective team daily!

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food & Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnosis, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Pollution, as we know is all around us from the air we breathe, to the food we eat. There is no escape from toxins as they invade our bodies in a variety of different ways. Since we can’t completely stop toxins from their destructive path, we can fight back!

Countless native Americans know the land holds many natural healing secrets, and one such secret is found in the desert, the Sonoran desert to be precise. It’s the Nopal Cactus, featuring it’s most amazing fruit. The robust pinkish color of the fruit gives way to it’s secret, the amazing Betalains. There are 24 known Betalains all of which are essential for human health. Betalains are anti-toxin and anti-inflammatory, we all could use some of that!

There is a leader amongst the Betalains that helps detoxify and it’s called beta xanthine. Beta xanthine is an important friend when it comes to detoxifying your liver and kidneys. Our bodies burn food in order to create energy and build health. As previously mentioned, toxins are on a never ending quest from both the outside elements and inside elements, which in turn hampers the body from doing it’s job effectively.

A key player in creating toxins from within our body is uric acid. Uric acid is excreted by the kidneys, and too much build up of uric acid is poisonous and has been associated with heart disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, kidney stones and gout. Our kidneys are delicate and easily damaged by dehydration with too much protein, sugar, toxic metals like mercury and toxins like aspirin. Even temperature extremes like heat can affect them.

Our liver neutralizes uric acid with enzymes, and those same enzymes also detoxify many other poisons. Thus improving liver detoxification of uric acid helps in detoxifying other poisons which is a very good thing indeed! If your liver is fatty, sluggish or toxic, chances are you will be unable to complete the detoxification process…Guess what, with the help of our new found friend from the Sonoran Desert, Betalain beta xanthine can help improve your chances of detoxification as it aids by neutralizing toxins such as uric acid, thus increasing liver detoxification enzymes that clean up both outside and inside toxins, and as an added bonus, it may even reduce the shock our kidneys face from excessive heat! Now that’s a win…win!

So drink in the wellness of the Betalain beta xanthine to help protect your precious assets, the liver and kidneys. Helping to detoxify your body, ultimately gaining better overall health!
Which by the way is responsible for increased, sustainable energy, a fantastic disease fighter and so much more, all by itself!

Got B’s what are you talking about? Well, I am referring to a prestigious group of hard working nutrients that are essential to your bod, the "B" vitamin family and their star B-12. Which by the way is responsible for increased, sustainable energy, a fantastic disease fighter and so much more, all by itself!

B vitamins as I mentioned above are a powerful alliance when enough of these little guys are absorbed into our body. Unfortunately, we don’t always get the recommended amounts according to the Food and Drug Administration in our daily diet. There are many factors that contribute to a lack of these key nutrients. It isn’t always due to a bad diet, even if we do eat right, such things as toxins in our soil, toxins in our air, are solid road blocks in delivering just what we need.

So who are these B’s anyway?

* Vitamin B1 (thiamine)

* Vitamin B2 (riboflavin)

* Vitamin B3 (niacin or niacinamide)

* Vitamin B4 (adenine)

* Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid)

* Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine, pyridoxal, or pyridoxamine, or pyridoxine hydrochloride)

* Vitamin B7 (biotin)

* Vitamin B9 (folic acid)

* Vitamin B12 (various cobalamins; commonly cyanocobalamin in vitamin supplements)

These water soluble vitamins are essential to cell metabolism. When you get the whole gang together you have a B Complex ready to rival the likes of irregular heartbeat, heart failure, memory loss and other cognitive deficits to name a few.

So, just how can you be sure you are getting the recommended dosage in order to keep the B’s buzzing for optimal health? Since we already know that many of the healthy foods we eat, some containing a rich source of a specific B vitamin doesn’t always deliver, taking supplements can help assure you are doing all you can. However, there is one particular vitamin I mentioned earlier, the star of show, remember, B-12? Well B-12 even if conditions are right and you received a proper dose of it either through foods or supplements, doesn’t always get absorbed. You see the older we get, the less B-12 is absorbed into our bodies. This star B-12 for maximum delivery, maximum results, must be taken sublingually or better known as under the tongue. Taking it like many other supplements by swallowing B-12 isn’t the way this super "B" works!

Since Mother Nature can’t always provide us with the most nutritious foods these days, sometimes we need a extra helping hand to reach our goals of optimal health. So remember to get your daily "B’s" and don’t forget good old B-12 taken sublingually! Your body will thank you!

It’s buzzing all across America! What’s buzzin? Why the morning rush of course! Folks are climbing out of bed, hopefully ready to face the day before them. Some are rushing to get ready for work, jamming out the door, all just to jump in the car, and sit in miles and miles of backed up traffic. Or maybe your the mom or dad that has to wrangle the kids out of bed, help them find their clothes, brush their teeth, and get something, somewhat healthful down them, before flying out the door to head for school! Or heck maybe you’re guilty of all of the above, and this is just the early shift!!

We all know how full life can be, no new surprises there. It’s never ending day after day! Now add in the holiday season to this mix, and you have really, whipped up some stressed out people! With parties, gift buying, decorating, finances, extra cooking, relatives, do I honestly need to say more?

Yeah, yeah, I know, I know, this is yet another article on stress during the holidays! I am stressed out already just thinking about it!!! Article after article about the importance of not stressing out so much, by eating better, exercising, yada, yada, yada! Do you really think I can eat healthier this time of year? Come on, how can you resist Grandma when she bakes up your favorite extra fattening dish…just for YOU! Why you’d break her heart if you didn’t indulge! Exercise? Find time, you have got to be kidding me! Seriously, am I not exercising enough already, just trying to keep up with it all???

Absolutely, along with an already full plate called "life", it’s crazy to honestly think you could make such changes during this busy season. After all, a change of habit takes at least 21 consecutive days to achieve!

So what can you do to keep your spirits up, your body healthy and an extra good measure of energy to keep up with it all?

How about a little pink pill that you place under your tongue? It’s B-12!

This amazing little package called sublingual B-12 sustains mental energy, stamina and alertness, now couldn’t you use some more of that while waiting in those long lines? Improved mood and a more positive outlook on life when you’re fighting the crowds shopping for that perfect gift. Could greater mental focus, clarity and concentration come in handy while at those boring, seemingly never ending family gatherings? How about a sharper memory with less forgetfulness while writing your Christmas list, trying to figure out, who’s naughty and nice!

Not to mention your body gets what it needs; enriching your brain and nerves with essential nutrients they need to help replenish brain fuel and helps repair damaged nerves. Now isn’t that convenient, and your multitasking too! Sounds like a win, win to me.

Go ahead, enjoy the holidays, you now have the winning edge to breeze through the season, and all year long. See great things can come in a small package.
These statements have not been evaluated by the Food & Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnosis, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Do you suffer from an autoimmune disease, if you do, you are not alone. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, there are over 80 autoimmune diseases, affecting millions of people, dishing out such diseases as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, lupus, type 1 diabetes and many more.

Let’s start with understanding autoimmune dysfunction

Our immune system, is intended to protect us from illness and harmful substances called antigens. Normally, the immune system in response to antigens such as bacteria, viruses and toxins, produces antibodies that affix themselves to the antigens, ultimately destroying them and removing them from the body. Characteristics of a autoimmune disorder is when the immune system cannot differentiate antigens from normal cells. As a result, turns on itself trying to annihilate normal healthy tissue.

In alliance with our immune system is inflammation.

Inflammation fights side by side in defense by warding off such bad guys as germs and toxins. When the enemy shows up such as viruses or parasites inflammation attacks the trespassers and surrounds tissue that may have been debilitated or infected. It then subsides so the healing can begin. As diligent a soldier inflammation can be, it too can also spin out of balance by not getting the proper message from the commanding officer to stop the fight; not shutting off!

Such an aggressive defense team interwoven so carefully together for our good, can and does sometimes lead to the declaration of war as the body turns on itself assaulting normal healthy muscles and tissue. This in turn sounds the alarm for inflammation to continue the attack becoming ongoing and excessive!

As researchers and medical professionals continue to work on answers. What can be done to protect the body from chronic inflammation. They know that inflammation does have a big impact on chronic diseases. Inflammation is a very dangerous enemy indeed.

There is hope on the horizon to lessen the affects of inflammation, and it comes in the form of natural alternatives, such as diet, exercise, losing excess fat, and taking certain nutritional supplements.

One nutritional inflammation fighter is the amazing Betalins. Betalins can bring relief from pain by reducing inflammation, ultimately helping the body function better overall. Now isn’t that a relief?

Until the war is over as to why some immune systems cannot recognize antigens from normal cells, along with its counterpart, out of control inflammation, take heed, fight back and never give up!

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food & Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnosis, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

I recently read an article in TriVita’s Vita Journal titled" Can a Supplement ease Alzheimer’s?" written by Dr. Scott Conrad Founder of Tiena Health. This article was of great importance to me as my mother was recently afflicted with this horrible disease as a result of a stroke. In Dr. Conrad’s article he wrote about the millions that have been affected in some way shape or form by this disease called Alzheimer. Caregivers, friends and family know how atrocious it is to watch someone with Alzheimer slowly lose their memory, increased confusion, along with the wearing down of the mind and body. It is the most heartbreaking pill in life to swallow. To be honest, I do not know if I will ever learn to accept what has happened to my mother.

Yet, in all this sadness, there is a twinkling of light at the end of the tunnel. Brain health and B-12 according to a recent 2008 study from the University of Oxford, England suggests a possible link between low levels of B-12 and the higher probability of increasing brain volume or better known as "brain erosion". The same study also suggested that those with a higher level of B-12 had a decreased probability in brain erosion. Since one of the results of Alzheimer is brain erosion this study has promising importance.

It is these very findings that spurred further research into the great benefits of B-12, that in fact B-12 may protect against the devastating disease Alzheimer. Researchers found that the erosion is linked directly to reduced mental function, which is obvious in Alzheimer patients.

This particular study in England took place over five years with 107 adults ages 61 to 87. The question posed "What is the link between vitamin B-12 and brain erosion?"

In order to answer this question, the researchers had the participants in the study following guidelines according to results published by the medical journal Neurology. The participants underwent annual blood tests, MRI’s, physical exams and memory tests. None of the subjects had any mental impairments when they began the study.

When the study ended all of the participants had B-12 levels in the normal range, on the other hand, the differences in brain volume between the normal low range and normal high range were quite noteworthy. Therefore the conclusion "People with lower levels of B-12 were six times more likely to have brain volume loss "brain erosion" than those with higher levels of B-12."

This article also pointed out the continual important as a society to take enough vitamin B-12 daily as deficiencies result in such symptoms as decreased mental and nerve functions and of course many more, too many to list. But I believe you get the jest.

Many health conscious people are already aware of the importance of certain key vitamins, yet for me personally, after reading this article what I found most beneficial was the new research brought forth that brain erosion can also be a direct result of lack of B-12. So take your B-12! I know I will…but be sure you get the right kind of B-12, and that is taken sublingual under the tongue for maximum benefits.

Inflammation is a process by which the body’s white blood cells and chemicals protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses.

In some diseases, however, the body’s defense system (immune system) inappropriately triggers an inflammatory response when there are no foreign substances to fight off. In these diseases, called auto immune diseases, the body’s normally protective immune system causes damage to its own tissues. The body responds as if normal tissues are infected or somehow abnormal.
What diseases are associated with inflammation?

Some, but not all, types of arthritis are the result of misdirected inflammation. Arthritis is a general term that describes inflammation in joints. Some types of arthritis associated with inflammation include:

Rheumatoid arthritis

Shoulder tendinitis or bursitis

Gouty arthritis

Polymyalgia rheumatica

Other painful conditions of the joints and musculoskeletal system that are not associated with inflammation include osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, muscular low back pain and muscular neck pain.
What are the symptoms of inflammation?

Inflammation is characterized by:

Redness
Swollen joint that is warm to touch

Joint pain

Joint stiffness

Loss of joint function

Often, only a few of these symptoms are present.

Inflammation may also be associated with general “flu-like” symptoms including:

Fever

Chills

Fatigue/loss of energy

Headaches

Loss of appetite

Muscle stiffness

So what can you do about inflammation appropriately called "The Silent Killer" and for good reason as mentioned above. One thing you can do in taking a proactive approach to reducing inflammation is to try the juice of the Nopal cactus fruit which contains Betalains. Betalaines are a rare and potent class of antioxidants that flourish in the Nopal cactus fruit. Nopalea harnesses the power of this desert superfruit and its betalains to bring you scientifically proven health benefits.

Betalains are the pigments that give the Nopal cactus fruit its vibrant pink color. But that’s just the beginning. They’re also natural antioxidants—and they’re only found in a few of the world’s plants.

The Nopal fruit isn’t just included in this small group of special plants, it actually leads the group by containing one of the highest amounts of betalains in all of nature.

How they heal

When you drink Nopalea, you take these betalains into your system, where they begin to restore your vitality on a cellular level. By helping the body reduce the toxins surrounding your cells and enabling essential nutrients to reach each cell, the betalains in Nopalea can reduce the inflammation in your body that leads to disease.

Are you overweight, taking cholesterol medication, taking the birth control pill, waking up feeling groggy, constantly craving carbohydrates, have brittle fingernails, or feel constantly fatigued? "The day you start fighting silent inflammation is the day that you start to slow down the aging process – and all the chronic diseases that come with it," quote by Dr. Barry Sears.

So what is inflammation?

Inflammation is a process by which the body’s white blood cells and chemicals protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses. When inflammation occurs normally, chemicals from the body’s white blood cells are released to protect us from foreign substances. Sometimes, however, the white blood cells and their inflammatory chemicals cause damage to the body’s tissues.
